love at 22045th sight

Well folks, I hope you like baby pictures because pretty much all my posts are going to be about Ellie from now on. These two pictures are her in some outfits her great-aunt bought her and I thought were cute. They are the baby bag outfits (the bottom is like a sleeping bag) which are convenient. Ellie has so many cute clothes from different people it is hard to choose what to put her in each day! If only she liked changing clothes, I would do it more often. Alas, she hates her clothes changed so I avoid it if possible. Yesterday though, she had poop leak after poop leak and we went through 4 different outfits!

Being a mom

I have a completely new respect for moms. Wow. It is hard. But despite the hard, I love much of it. I love Ellie's sweet face as she sleeps. I love her shriek when she is hungry. I love her chubby cheeks. I love how she looks when she nurses. I love watching her daddy dote on her. I don't do much besides just look at her. She is not going to be a newborn for much longer and it makes me sad. I will miss that little newborn face.
This first week has been overwhelming, but I am surrounded by great people to help. My mom came up for a week to help me which I really appreciated! She was very helpful and it was hard to have her leave. Ryan has been so wonderful too. Very helpful and loving and patient. It makes all the difference to have people around who love you.
That's all for now. I think I need a nap!

Elizabeth Jo

She's here! 7 pounds, 13 ounces. She was 19 and a half inches long. She's beautiful. Seems happy and loves to look around. Here she is being wiped down by the nurse right after being pulled out of mom. She's angry. Such a rough awakening.
Now she is opening her eyes, checking out the world.

Here she is with mom. Just looking around some more.

We'll post more later.
