The drive was really pretty at first (around Arizona). Here we have the Grand Canyon.
Here are some really cool red rocks.
Here is saguaro cactus all over by Mesa.
Then we come to Texas.
10 hours later, we have the same landscape...
I like Austin because it is a prettier part of Texas. We didn't get pictures of our arrival since it was dark.

I am glad you got to see some of the more beautiful parts of Texas, because a whole lot of it is more of the same.....dry, dry, dry.
I myself have never made that drive, and I don't have any plans to do so, but I have to say when flying in it is the same thing, flat blah blah blah and then hello green and rivers. Thanks Austin for being so green.
Yeeaaah for your new camera! Those pictures turned out awesome. It looks like the drive was about as enjoyable as it could have been. Did you ever finish your book on tape?
